How we helped a UK golf brand hire a Social Media Manager who actually understood the game in 4 weeks

Our Result

In 4 weeks, we sourced, screened, and helped hire a Social Media Manager who actually plays golf and could write to the brand's voice from day one. Once the right candidate landed, the move from first screening to signed offer was under 10 days.

WEEK 1
Role briefed. Active outbound to social media operators with golf experience across multiple geographies.
WEEKS 2-3
Screening calls and qualification across the shortlist.
WEEK 4
3 candidates presented. Final hire moved from screening to signed offer in under 10 days 🚀

The Starting Point

TRS Golf is a fast-growing UK golf brand. They came to us with three roles to fill at once: Creative Strategist, Customer Support Specialist, and Social Media Manager. The brief on the Social Media Manager was specific. The candidate had to come from a golfing background. Not "open to learning." Not "willing to research the space." Actually into golf. That kept the bar tight from day one, but it also meant we needed to cast a wide net geographically: we reached out to social media operators with golf experience all over the world, knowing the right person could be anywhere.

Our Solution

To attract applicants with the desired qualities, we at Prosana worked closely with our client to come up with selling points, requirements, and skills necessary for this position.

Selling Points

  • Building social presence at a fast-moving golf brand
  • Real ownership of content and strategy across platforms
  • Working with a founder team that cares about voice and quality
  • Remote setup with flexible hours

Requirements

  • 3+ years in social media for DTC brands
  • Actual golf background - plays, watches, or is deeply embedded in the culture
  • Strong content writing, not just scheduling
  • Comfortable owning brand voice across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube

Skills We Looked For

  • Voice match with TRS Golf's culture
  • Hands-on with short-form video and creator collabs
  • Self-starter who can ship without five layers of approval

Our Winning Approach

Tight on the niche, wide on the geography

Golf is a global game, and the kind of social media operator who genuinely knows it - the brands, the players, the culture - can be living anywhere. We focused the search on the non-negotiable (real golf background) and let the geography open up. That brought candidates into the shortlist who wouldn't have surfaced from a single-region search.

Moved fast when the right candidate showed up

The hire was actively interviewing with another golf brand and ready to start immediately. When the client gave the green light after one screening call, we moved fast: same-week task, same-week final interview, contract issued within 48 hours. We even shifted the offer from contractor to employee structure mid-process to lock the role in before the competing brand could close.

Key Insights That Helped Us Hire The Perfect Candidate

  • For a niche-required role, the constraint isn't a limit. It's the search itself. Pin down the must-haves before sourcing and the rest gets faster.
  • Letting geography open up when the niche is tight is one of the easiest ways to surface candidates the client would never have found locally.
  • When the right candidate is actively interviewing elsewhere, your job becomes time management as much as recruitment. Move at the speed of their other process.
